Teabags of the nimrods
Ah yes, teabagging.
Proudly, I might add. Here’s a comment that got plopped into an old post and seemed to be worth sharing:
Suck on that tea bag? Seems to suggest more awareness of the sexual context than most of these bitter enders are usually willing to acknowledge.
They’re claiming 2,000 showed up at the capitol in St. Paul (PiP says hundreds). So far as Minnesota political movements go, this ranks them well behind the Minnesota Independence Party, right to lifers, and the peace movement, none of which ever got advance free publicity. (The peace movement had to document its crowds online before the major media conceded new records had been set for protest crowds.)
I’m sorry I got overly personal yesterday, but that conversation with family revealed the usual Fox ADD: each topic rebuttal was met with a new topic. By conversation’s end I had heard a complete panopoly of Fox News talking points that spanned the entire spectrum of wingnut fears.
If Fox News people were in charge, the next Olympics would feature sports like synchronized bedwetting, sexual gymnastics, and the hop, skip & jump to conclusions.
Party like it’s 1773? Weird thing for the spiritual heirs of the Tories to say, imho. And is anything freakier than hearing a middle class dude rail about the tyranny of high, high, high sub-Reagan tax rates for the rich?

No sooner had Dave from Alaska gotten home when Gov. Palin re-emerged from her lair and went through the motions of acting like a governor. Sort of.
For Gov. Sarah Palin, Republican meteor, getting back to governing has not been easy.
As the legislative session draws to an end this weekend, Ms. Palin is pushing no major bills, and neither are state lawmakers. Many pivotal alliances between the governor and minority Democrats are obsolete, undone by mutual bitterness from the election. The rush of oil revenues that helped Ms. Palin press for big-ticket projects in the past has been replaced by a budget deficit that will require taking at least $1 billion out of state savings….
Recently, she has sparred publicly with Levi Johnston, the 19-year-old father of her grandson, who broke up with Ms. Palin’s daughter Bristol. On Thursday, while lawmakers hone the state budget, the governor is to speak at an anti-abortion group’s fund-raising dinner in Indiana. The next morning, she addresses a breakfast for a nonprofit for families like her own who have a child with Down syndrome.
No, the major media isn’t touching the lineage issues with a ten-foot pole. But they are doing a better job of sharing her extreme agenda with us.
The governor recently nominated Wayne Anthony Ross, a board member of the National Rifle Association, to be Alaska’s attorney general. Mr. Ross, who is expected to be confirmed, has told lawmakers that he opposes many federal efforts in Alaska like increasing protections for polar bears and beluga whales and limiting resource development. Years ago, he described gay men and lesbians as “degenerates.”
As a private lawyer, Mr. Ross said, he lived his initials. “My license plate says, ‘WAR,’ ” Mr. Ross said in an interview after a recent confirmation hearing. “And my wife’s license plate says, ‘MRS WAR.’ ”
Even in Alaska I’m surprised this crap plays out instead of just blowing up.

The NYTimes editorial board sides with Obama’s plan to reform student loans. Any Democrat who disagrees with Obama’s plan should go on a short list of assholes to receive primary challenges in 2010.
The current system is nothing but free money for fascists. Yes, fascists. When you have quasi-private corporations doing public business for profit, you’ve just crossed the line into textbook fascism. No Jews in ovens necessary, just a government controlled by private sector interests interfering with both the free market and necessary government services all for the benefit of the few and the expense of the rest of us.
And no, I will never forget or forgive the bastards who called me incessantly to scream and yell at me. And that was under Clinton. The Bush years were worse, so much so I incurred new debt to pay off that old debt (bad investment, my post-college earnings are still nowhere near what I made as a factory worker back in the days of fair wages).
Joe Biden’s out of the Senate now, and Chris Dodd is fighting for his political life, so hopefully reform is finally at hand.
Hopefully.

The Times also goes Tild and promotes “nasal irrigation,” or what I call nouching.
If you’re an allergy sufferer, it’s a cheap alternative to being owned by Big Pharma.

Strib acknowledges but doesn’t correct Rep. Bachmann’s recent op-ed factual boner.
Post author Paul Schmelzer also has a new Bits up at his personal blog. In other arts coverage Bob Collins links to Tan Dun’s internet orchestral piece. Fascinating stuff and all the more interesting to me after watching a video of Tan Dun’s Paper Concerto with buddy Jon last Easter weekend.
I’m sure Michele Bachmann would have found it inappropriate at some level.

Carrying the RNC’s water cost money, and it seems Norm doesn’t have any.
Maybe they can do tours of their newly remodeled kitchen. $1,000 a head, $1,500 for couples and all tax deductible.

Errands now but I’ll be back (and I always make good on my threats).
