Bruce did do “Fire” covered wonderfully by The Pointer Sisters, but the song to which paulbrown refers above is “I’m On Fire” … http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/bruce+springsteen/im+on+fire_20025015.html

Apparently Cash did cover it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHLQPgrSfWY) as a bonus track on the album “Badlands: A Tribute To Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska” … not Cash’s finest work IMHO, hence the “bonus” status:

It was the one that goes “I’m on fire…” not a Boss fan, but Cash was definitely not up to it. I felt sorry for him cause he was trying to bring back some of the former glory.

Not sure. You don’t know which Boss tune do you? It was a partial discography and didn’t include anything from the mid-90s on, but I already have most of that.

Cash’s cover of Hurt from NiN is still one of my favorite Cash songs.
