Memorydejavu asked in the comments as to what it all means.
John Cole says that it means the voters selected Democrats in national races, and Republicans for governorships in states already trending that way. Tim Fernholz at the centrist American Prospect says it was a rejection of extremism, but doesn’t mention CA10, which was won by John Garamendi, a guy well to Obama’s left.
David Dayen looks at all the races and has good insights into them all. Brendan Nyhan calls out the Wall Street Journal for blatant goalpost moving.
Mostly what yesterday’s elections tell us is that when hardly anyone votes, anything can happen. If there’s a national movement of any sort going on, it would be to crucify Wall Streeters (see Jon Corzine’s loss in NJ to the most corrupt douchebag running this year).
Are you ready for some schadenfreude? Read David Weigel on Doug Hoffman’s stunningly pugnacious final hours. [earlier Weigel post] Then check out Tristero on how the NYTimes made NY23 all about Hoffmann and ignored Owens.
But nothing is sweeter than a Digby post that includes this on the spot reporting from Dave Weigel:
The Hoffman backers outside of the Biden event all said they’d attended Tea Parties. Some were affiliated with Glenn Beck’s 9/12 Project. All worried that ACORN was going to show up in the district, or even at the Biden event–a paranoia that led to some minor awkwardness when an African-American Hoffman worker walked by.
“This guy’s with ACORN,” said Dewitt.
“Definitely, not from around here,” said businessman Erik Dunk.
I’m sure there have been stupider political movements, but none spring to mind at the moment. Eric Boehlert wonders just how many more “victories” like NY23 the Republicans can take.
Or how much more cheerleading Fox News can do and still be considered a “news” network.

A reminder of just how red NY23 was/is.

I won’t argue with her on this one. But I also hope that the NY23 loss sent a message to the Netroots about how the locals respond to out-0f-staters flooding a district on behalf of a carpetbagger.
If this we are to truly become a left of center nation, we need left of center grassroots, not netroots. The internet is a tool that can be used by locals far more effectively than by national GOTV/fundraising outfits.

Media Matters also has a nice bit on Breitbart lying about union thugs. Just once I wish the wingnuts were right about union thuggery. Real union thugs would leave a body count the right could talk about for decades.

It’s amazing how hard it is to find news stories about this.
